Create a character. This character can be a letter, a person, an animal or any type of illustration, use your imagination. This character will play the main role in your animation.
Take this character and draw it in five different exaggerated poses. In each of these poses the character has to express some kind of emotion (like love, anger, dislike, distaste, happiness and so on). Keep the animation principles in mind when you draw your character.

LA: Visualize Your Ideas (Week 22)

“I would like you to create a mood board and storyboard using a word and its meaning as the concept.  For example, you could use the word “prop”. You could then use the “r” to prop up the “p” that keeps falling over. That’s just to give you an idea, be creative and use a word and concept of your own.”

LA: Playing With Ideas (week 21)

If the idea is at the heart of everything, then I would like you to think of a movie that you love. Then look at its current title sequence and come up with a new one.

Sketch up the rough idea in the form of a storyboard. Your storyboard needs to be at 30 frames and should be for at least 1minute of motion design

A movie that I love is the movie Peaceful Warrior. This is my idea for the storyboard for its title sequence:

  • Explain why creating backups are so important

Backups are important because there is a risk that you can loose the photographs. Some photos that are taken of once in a lifetime moments like weddings ect. can’t be reshot. It also cost money to do shoots over just because you lost photographs. So a backup should always be kept, both of the original photographs and the edited versions of them.

LA: Planning A Fashion Shoot (Week 19)

Question 1

♦ In your own words, describe the procedure of planning a fashion shoot. You don’t need to go into too much detail, a short outline will do.

First you have to determine: Who is the client? Why doo they need a photoshoot? Is there a theme/concept? Do they have any special requirements?

Then
Create a moodboard
Create a storyboard
Find a location for the photoshoot
Create a shoot list – what should be the minimum of shoots, then you can freely experiment as long as you get the shoots that is the minimum to complete the shoot.
Choose a model that fit with the theme.
Appoint a stylist and a makeup and hair artist.
Prepare for the shoot, make a time schedule. Make sure you communicate with the stylist and the makeup artist so they know the style and look the photographs should have. Then they have to tell you the time they need to do their part and be ready to shoot. Make a time schedule and check in with them so that you are sure that everyone have the time they need. Inform all the people that is going to be part of the shoot about their duties beforehand.

♦What are the stylist’s duties?

The stylist should

  • Create looks that correspond with the theme/concept of the shoot.
  • Pick fashionable outfits, shoes and accessories, and make sure that everything fits
  • Make sure that the accsesories is used with the right outfits.
  • Coordinate with photographers, models and hair and makeup artists
  • Research and recommend locations for the photoshoot
  • Prepare photoshoot areas using appropriate props
  • Adjust angle and model position to present each outfit in the best way
  • Ensure that the final result is within quality standards and aligns with the scope of the project

♦List your duties as a photographer

  • Select and assemble equipment, and choose settings and props based on client’s wishes and theme of the photo shoot.
  • Properly light model and subjects using artificial or natural lighting. Use flashes and reflectors where necessary.
  • Determine what  images and compositions the shoot should result in, and choose equipment, props, settings and lighting to achieve desired results.
  • Retouch, resize and enhance images as needed using Photoshop or other photography software.
  • Model directing. Connect with the model, creating trust and make sure the model feel comfortable.

♦Find an editorial fashion spread in a fashion magazine. Explain what you think the concept was, what equipment they used and how the location affected the concept. Scan or photograph the shoot and hand it in along with your answer.

In the editorial fashion spread that I found in Spanish ELLE, the concept is Moroccan style. This is seen in the location, which seem to be inland morocco, with sandy hills and beautiful Riads/gardens. The location here adds strongly to the concept, as well as the clothing. The equipment that is used is soft boxes, speedlights, spots/snoot, extra flashes and maybe reflectors.
